🐭🌿 Meet Gem and Topz – Two Curious Explorers Looking for Their Perfect Home 🌿🐭

Say hello to Gem and Topaz, a lovely pair of female rats around 4 months old, full of curiosity and character, and ready to find a home that understands them.

These girls are all about adventure over cuddles. They’re not the snuggly, sit-in-your-hands type and will need time to gwt to know you— instead, they thrive when given space to explore, sniff, climb, and investigate everything around them. If you enjoy watching natural rat behaviour and giving animals the freedom to be themselves, these two will be right up your street.

Gem can be a bit cage defensive, but once she’s out and about exploring, she relaxes. These poor ladies havnt had lots of human contact yet. Like many rats, she just prefers her home turf not to be disturbed too suddenly.

They are still so young and it won’t take them long to come around and be brilliant pets.

🏡 What Gem & Topaz Need

🐭 Housing

• A spacious, well-ventilated cage (minimum around 100cm x 50cm x 80cm).
• Multiple levels with ramps, hammocks, tunnels, and hides.
• Solid flooring (no wire) for comfort and safety.
• A consistent layout (especially important for Iris) so she can confidently navigate.
• Daily free-roam time in a safe, enclosed space where they can explore and exercise.

🥗 Diet

• High-quality rat nuggets or pellets as a staple.
• Daily fresh vegetables and occasional fruit.
• Healthy treats in moderation (great for bonding!).
• Fresh water available at all times.

🧠 Enrichment & Handling

• Foraging toys, chew toys, and regular enrichment changes.
• Gentle, respectful interaction — allowing them to come to you rather than forcing handling.
• Patience around cage interactions, particularly with Gem.
• A calm, predictable routine to help them feel secure.
