Toby

Meet Toby, a distinguished black‑and‑white fluffball who once lived the perfect bachelor lifestyle: one human, one home, one meticulously predictable daily routine. He had peace. He had routine. He had adoration. He had… well, everything except a gym membership, which explains the current “extra fluff” situation he’s carrying.

Then life threw him a plot twist he absolutely did not sign off on. His beloved human passed away, and Toby’s cosy world flipped upside down. One moment he’s living his best snug‑cat life, the next he’s with us, blinking in outrage like someone has moved his favourite chair three inches to the left and ruined the entire vibe.

Despite his heartbreak, Toby settled at Pawz and revealed both his soft side and his spicy side. He’s affectionate, he’s charming — and he’s absolutely not shy about giving you a swift smack when he decides the stroking session is over. Boundaries matter, and Toby enforces them with opinionated confidence.

Toby’s Temperament (AKA: The Spicy Marshmallow Manifesto)

Toby needs an adopter who truly understands cats — especially the ones with moods, rules, and personal space requirements. If your only experience is with gentle, floppy cuddle‑cats who let you brush them, pick them up, and treat them like plush toys… Toby is not your boy.

He chooses affection on his terms. You wait for him to come to you, not the other way around.

He recently went to a new home but was returned through no fault of his own. He was meant to be the only pet — and through unfortunate circumstances ended up living with a dog. Toby was not happy about this.

Toby’s Wishlist

A calm, steady home where nothing zooms, shrieks, or bounces. A human who appreciates quiet companionship, shared loafing, and respectful distance. Indoor space — ideally with stairs — so he can begin his new fitness programme: Operation Less Fluff, More Buff. A large boy needs a large home to roam. A good quality diet.

We originally thought he was strictly an indoor lad, but during his brief home trial he showed interest in going outside. So we think he’d enjoy:

  • A catio, or
  • A secure, cat‑proofed garden (yes, he can still jump a fence — do not underestimate the athletic potential of a round boy), or
  • A fully indoor home with someone experienced at keeping cats safely inside.

He does not want to live with other cats or dogs. Toby has spoken.

What Toby Needs From You

Patience. Kindness. Commitment. Respect for his boundaries. A cosy spot to loaf and a guarantee he will be your one and only pet.

Give him these things and Toby will blossom into the loving, loyal companion he’s meant to be. He has so much affection left to give — he just needs the right person to help him feel safe again.

And if you’d like to see his handsome face in action, he’s starring on the Pawz for Thought YouTube channel below.

If you’re interested in adopting Toby, please complete this adoption application form and give details of your experience with temperamental cats and the cat team will contact you within a week.
