We have rescued many thousands of cats since Pawz for Thought was formed.
We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome many cats every year. While they are in our care, we need a dedicated team of people to see to their daily needs.
Our cats need fresh food and water every morning and afternoon. Looking after cats also involves a lot of daily cleaning. This involves thoroughly cleaning litter trays, washing the floors and walls of cat pens, washing the floors and walls of our cat cabin, washing blankets, and washing a lot of dishes. The cat areas also need to be kept clean and tidy to ensure blankets are tidied away onto shelves, food and toys are put away and cat litter scoops are washed.
Our cats need to be given love and attention. They also need to be brushed regularly to remove loose hairs. We do take in some very scared and aggressive cats, and they need just as much attention as the friendly ones to help them to start trusting people again.
We need volunteers who can do a set morning or afternoon every week. Ideally morning volunteers should do approximately 9 am to 12 pm and afternoon volunteers should do 2 or 3 pm to 5 or 6 pm. We need these 7 days per week.
You must be over 18 to volunteer and you need to have your own transport because we are not easy to get to on public transport.
We have very strict homing policies for our cats, and these apply to volunteers too. Volunteers must still follow the application process on our website. Volunteers are not guaranteed they will pass the application process and do not get first choice of cats. They must wait for them to be advertised.
If you can commit to one morning or afternoon per week and would like to volunteer, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your full name and telephone number.
